The 2nd rule of the Assault server is "no footsniping".

The spirit of the rule is intended to keep ct's from being killed by an unknown opponent that can see them. I agree with this, it helps balance the obvious one-sidedness of the game; however, this does not prevent ct's from the same hazard in another part of the map.

Any ct can easily be killed in vents by an unknown opponent. The ability to spray vent shadows does not require skill, and takes away a vital part of the ct assault, which in turn increases the intrinsic T advantage.

I know that a player can legitimately discover a vent incursion with his/her (<--easy) radar.. but in almost every instance ct's are found by shadows, not radar. Allowing "shadow sniping" to remain legal because of the radar would be a GIANT loophole. Banning vent spray forces nubs into a L2play situation, and it evens the odds for cts, win/win.

I am new to the forums, but I'm not new to the server.. most of you know me, and i would like to get to know (<--not biblical) the rest of you.

I think as annoying as it is to get sprayed in vents, it's legit. It's not all that hard to get through vents, you generally just have to wait for the round to go on for a bit. Trying it right at the get-go is definitely going to get you killed unless you're weed and somehow weasel through. Irish was saying yesterday that when you drop into vents let go of your crouch key as you're moving along and your feet won't stick out. Also, when you climb the ladder into UV just go in sideways or backwards and you won't show a shadow or gun through vents. You might have known this stuff already, but just saying it so that it's been made public. I understand your point Halo, I just think it's about timing really...but what do i know.

Lol whenever i yell stop spraying vents whore an admin says im gonna slay you, so i think it should be an unwritten rule admins can just slay when they want for it

The most simple solution is don't go in vents. Cuz most of the time, there's always going to be a terrorist camping at the end of it anyway. Also Jimbo, if you see any admins slaying you for those kind of reasons, it's best to notify someone about it.

From a T-Whore's point of view. Coming threw vents is a pretty easy way to spot yourself as new to the server. People who attempt the vent normally die once or twice and then get the idea. However, if you have played on the server a whole bunch, you know where to aim once dropping in to snipe the guy at the end of vents. I am frequently killed by Weeeeeeed and Primo because they are just that damn good.

As for vent spraying, your gun can stick through any part of the level. Through the doors, vents, walls, basically everywhere. When a gun comes through the wall, its pretty legit to spray and kill. And as yoda said, there are many different ways to stop from being spotted in vents. Its inevitable for anyone to see the shadows and spray. Basic instinct. I think its almost impossible to regulate vent spraying so Admins shoudl have free rain to slay whenever they want. If an admin is killed in the vent, then I still think its legit.

Just my opinion.

and it isn't the gun that gets people killed... its the feet in vents and shadows in uppervent. and yes i know you can lessen footprint bleedthrough but it isn't 100% and its what people watch for. And the Shadows from uv are a fucking bullseye

foot = body part of a guy you might be trying to kill, footsniping=illegal... as such players dont shoot at feet. If they do they get slayed, or kicked, or banned (depending on the admin)

if GOG decided to ban vent spray it seems to me that it would be incredibly easy to enforce

the footsniping rule really just applies to the front garage door though. the spirit of the rule is just to ensure that the ct's don't get raped at every entrance. realistically, if the t's were all semi-smart players with half decent shots, the CT's should NEVER win assault. at least not without lots of coordination and grenades. no footsniping, in my humble possibly uninformed opinion, is just meant to give the ct a more even playing field. if you start to nitpick at every little problem, we could go forever. no flashes, no all talk, no free money, blah blah blah blah. when it comes down to it, the rules are supposed to make the server more fun for every player - not just t's - and they're not supposed to make it some waba bullshit.

p.s. i got banned from waba for headshotting clan members in the vent (not spraying, just shooting from the end). they claimed i was "spraying the vents" and proceeded to ban me...god i love that server. fucking pussy cunts.

Nice sig, Yoda I'm all for the whole "no vent spamming" rule but to be honest, it's just too much trouble. Just drop in, get a one deag, get out. And I think, not sure, that if you drop in with a pistol, your chances of being seen are less likely... and I heard somewhere that it hides your shadow too, although again, I'm not sure. Any relatively good assault player that isn't a T whore knows to aim at the corners which is usually where the T sits, and not to wait to watch for the T to pop up. Drop in, prefire, get out. If you get a few kills, proceed to upper vent if you so wish. That's my 76 cents worth.... which is how much I have in my wallet, sad.

well because its one of 4 entrances, and the one that gets you closest to the hostages in which ct's are trying to save DUH!

i don't think there should be a no vent spraying rule, but if i come in there quietly, and i am not on anybody's radar, i am not fair game.

word. if i spray vents and kill someone and end up being slayed, i ain't gonna complain. i got my kill and i took the chance. it's really a do at your own risk type of thing. i do spray vents if i'm upstairs, but almost never downstairs...and hopefully never get an admin with it. lol
