wow. Rowan since you're obviously not doing anything important. Care to tell me why my screen on my laptop will sometimes randomly start fizzling out and go really dark?

If it's a hardware issue, it's possible that the backlight may be going out. A quick way to tell is that if you have a spare monitor. connect it to the vga slot(assuming you have one) see if it does it on the extended picture. If not, my best guess would be backlight. Or there could be an issue on your system board. check your power settings to make sure that it's not going into any type of a sleep mode after a certain period of time.

What kind of laptop is it? Model?

I had this problem too and it is most certainly your back light dying. Normally, a monitor has two of these "Bulbs" and its typical for them to die out over 3 to 4 years.... Dell replaces them for free if it is still under warrante.

Well, this is the same computer that I had sent in cause of the motherboard overheating...and its not constant. It will happen every so often and then run fine for days. It is also a filthy HP, zd800 model.

I read it quite fine actually, my state education is besides the point. In order for me to give "it" something to drink i'd have to have said beverage in my fridge. Thus, my point in that I only drink G and Beer which makes it the only thing sitting in my fridge.

However, seeing as you've just had a kid and drove all over, i'll let this one slide for you.
