New To CSS

I just got CSS last night and have been having difficulties. ive only been playing the assault 24/7 server as its the only non mod server i can find which led me to this site. D: anything to help please for a noob.

What are you having difficulties with?

im having difficulties finding a game that is not a mod besides the 24/7 assault server provided by GOG and also with gameplay, im new to pc gaming, any tips to help me get better in general?

dont watch prodigy play, it helps

lol, pretty much, just look for servers with 24/7, generally there not modded, but if your looking for a rotation server, look for servers with the name, mixmap, ratational, map cycle....etc, but you know you love it here more <3

Not sure what you mean by not a mod, as the 24-7 assault server runs several mods on it.

Maybe like not zombiemod or something like that... so here is how to find servers:

when you start CS:S
click on find servers
make sure you have the Internet tab selected
then click on the button that says "Filters"
there should be a set of boxes:
Tags: with a drop-down box of include and do not include you can leave this empty
Game: this should be forced onto Counter-Strike:Source as you are running the game
Map: You can leave this blank unless you are wanting a specific map or map type (ie cs_ [hostage rescue] de_ [bomb defusal] gg_ [gun-game] bhop_ [bunnyhoping] aim_ [deathmatch] and there are other types as well
Max Player Count: leave blank unless you want a server with a certain amount of slots
Latency: The lower the latency the better the connection, I find that under 150 is playable
Location: As long as you filter by latency you do not need to filter by location
Anti-cheat: Only play on Secure servers or else you WILL be playing against cheaters
and check boxes for
Server not full This should be checked as you will not be able to join a server that is full until a player leaves
Has users playing This should also be checked unless you want to play in a server by yourself
Is not password protected: This should be checked as well since you do not know the password to the server (These are generally used for competitive play)

im pretty sure by mod he means zmod, jailbreak, scoutz knivez, warcraft, he just wants a generic cs server

then under map put cs_ or de_ and you will find the more normal maps

just stick to our server

haha ok thanks guys and yes, i know the assault server has cookies...ive only been eating them the last 6 hours xD and alos, how could i improve actual gameplay?

lol, also another noob question, how can i change my name?

You have to change you name in Steam settings

are those setting in game? how do i get to those? D:

if you open the steam in-game overlay
defualt is [SHIFT]+[TAB]
click settings at the bottom and the first thing to pop up should be the page for changing your name

I use an original G15, and a G5 mouse. I like them.

alright. ive gotten better i actually get like a .6 k/d a game instead of .2 xD ive started watching like pro footage and stuff. yaayyyy lol any1 got a good config setup?

play CT, you are going to die A LOT but its the best way to get better.

try looking for a 'deathmatch' server you respond instantly but don't just spray and pray the whole time work on 3 round burst and following the movements of players

oh and always wear nightvision.
